Industrial Hygiene Services

SKA Environment delivers industrial hygiene services that protect the health, safety, and productivity of building occupants and workers across diverse industries. From indoor air quality concerns to occupational noise exposure and asbestos risks, our team brings a proactive, data‑driven approach to evaluating and mitigating environmental hazards. Using advanced instruments and scientifically validated methods, we provide actionable insights that help clients maintain regulatory compliance, safeguard employees, and create healthier environments in workplaces, schools, hospitals, and industrial facilities.

Our air quality monitoring programs assess key indoor contaminants such as VOCs, particulates, carbon monoxide, and mold indicators, with clear recommendations for improving ventilation, filtration, and overall environmental performance. We perform comprehensive noise assessments using dosimeters and sound level meters to measure exposures, identify risks, and develop customized hearing conservation strategies. When asbestos‑containing materials are suspected, our certified inspectors conduct detailed surveys, collect samples for accredited laboratory analysis, and prepare management or abatement plans that comply with federal, state, and local requirements. Each service is designed not only to uncover risks but to provide practical solutions that minimize liabilities and enhance safety outcomes.

What sets SKA apart is our ability to turn complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable strategies for our clients. We collaborate closely with property owners, developers, safety officers, and legal teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local standards while reducing disruption to operations. Whether you’re addressing a worker complaint, preparing for a renovation or demolition, or proactively improving workplace conditions, SKA Environment delivers the expertise, precision, and responsive service needed to protect people and property. Our goal is simple: to provide peace of mind by helping clients create safe, compliant, and sustainable environments.

Air Quality Monitoring

At SKA Environment, our Air Quality Monitoring services are designed to assess, analyze, and manage indoor air conditions to ensure occupant safety, regulatory compliance, and optimal environmental quality. We understand that poor air quality can significantly impact human health, productivity, and safety. That is why our team of environmental professionals employs a comprehensive and methodical approach to indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments.

Our IAQ services include real-time monitoring of airborne contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), temperature, and humidity. Using state-of-the-art instruments and scientifically validated protocols, we identify sources of contamination and provide actionable recommendations to remediate identified issues.

SKA Environment has performed hundreds of air quality assessments in diverse facilities including schools, hospitals, office buildings, manufacturing plants, and residential complexes. We collaborate closely with building managers and safety officers to develop long-term air quality management programs, which include HVAC evaluations, filtration system upgrades, and ventilation optimization strategies.

Our ASTM-trained consultants not only carry out thorough inspections, but also deliver clear, detailed reports that align with federal and local indoor air quality guidelines including those set by OSHA, EPA, and ASHRAE. We also offer mold inspection and remediation plans when microbial growth is suspected due to water intrusion or high humidity.

Ultimately, our goal is to empower our clients with the data and expertise they need to maintain a healthy, compliant, and comfortable indoor environment.

Noise Monitoring

Noise pollution is a growing concern across a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, transportation, and energy. At SKA Environment, our Noise Monitoring services help businesses evaluate occupational and environmental noise exposure to comply with regulatory standards and protect the hearing health of employees.

Our team deploys Class 1 and Class 2 sound level meters and dosimeters that comply with ANSI S1.4 and IEC standards to capture precise noise measurements across full shift durations or spot-check periods. This data is analyzed to identify peak exposures, average levels (Leq), time-weighted averages (TWA), and noise dose percentages, providing a full picture of risk.

We are experienced in conducting both personal noise dosimetry and area monitoring in environments such as oil refineries, chemical plants, warehousing centers, airports, and heavy manufacturing sites. Our staff provides tailored hearing conservation recommendations including administrative and engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and guidance on employee audiometric testing programs.

The comprehensive noise assessments performed by SKA Environment serve as key documentation for OSHA compliance and support decisions on investment in acoustic insulation, machinery enclosures, and other noise abatement solutions. Moreover, our team is equipped to deliver community noise studies in support of permitting applications and urban development planning.

Whether you are responding to a worker complaint, preparing for a regulatory audit, or proactively developing a safety plan, SKA’s noise monitoring services provide the critical insights needed to reduce liability, protect personnel, and operate sustainably.

Asbestos Survey

Asbestos, a known carcinogen, remains a serious environmental health risk in older buildings and industrial facilities. At SKA Environment, we provide comprehensive Asbestos Survey services to identify and manage asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Our certified asbestos inspectors conduct detailed visual assessments and collect bulk samples from suspect materials including floor tiles, pipe insulation, ceiling textures, roofing felts, wall panels, and other components. All samples are analyzed at NVLAP-accredited laboratories using PLM and TEM methods to determine asbestos content, type, and concentration.

Whether the objective is renovation, demolition, property acquisition, or compliance assurance, our asbestos surveys offer a complete inventory of ACMs, detailed location maps, and clear recommendations for abatement or management in place. We assist clients in developing asbestos operations and maintenance (O&M) programs, exposure control plans, and contractor oversight for abatement projects.

SKA Environment has extensive experience conducting asbestos surveys for schools, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial plants. We also conduct AHERA inspections, re-inspections, and clearance air testing as required by EPA and OSHA.

Backed by more than a decade of experience and a team of trained professionals, SKA ensures clients are protected from regulatory penalties, legal liability, and health risks associated with asbestos exposure. We take pride in providing services that are technically sound, legally defensible, and always client-focused.
